The neighborhood of Washington Park is bounded by Cherry Creek/Speer Boulevard, Downing Street, University Boulevard, and Interstate 25. The neighborhood includes Washington Park which was initially designed by Reinhard Schuetze, a German landscape architect, between 1899 and 1908.
Housing began soon after the founding of Denver with a significant increase after the 1890s. Many of the houses were built between 1900 and 1940. The neighborhood of Washington Park was divided by the City of Denver in 1972, into two neighborhoods: Washington Park and Washington Park West.
